St. Francis Church 2011 Pictorial Directory

A New Pictorial Directory!

Plans are under way for the publication of a new pictorial directory this fall. It has been four years since our last directory, and we are looking forward to updating our staff and adding new members. The decision has been made to work with the same company we used before, Lifetouch, for our new directory. We would like our new directory to include every member and regularly attending guest. We ask that you please take the opportunity to be part of this important connection tool for our church.

Portraits will be taken from October 11th - October 20th. You may sign up for a photography appointment immediately by visiting Life Touch Online Scheduling System. You may also contact Kathy McCarthy directly at 336-634-1274 to schedule your session or, if you’d prefer to sign up after services, we will have a table set up in the Parish Hall on Rally Day which is September 12th.

Re-linking VIC Cards
It’s time to re-link (or link) your Harris Teeter VIC card to St. Francis the Day School. If you have given your number to the Day School previously, we will re-link it for you. If you have not, please send it to dayschool@stfrancisgreensboro.org. All we need is your last name and the 10 or 11 digit code on the back of the card. This money is used to buy construction paper for the Day School and Sunday School. And, as always, your help in this matter is greatly appreciated!

Prayer Vigil for the Earth, the Gulf, and Creation

On Thursday evening, June 17, St. Francis held a service of readings, meditation, and music for our church and the wider community to come together to pray for ‘this earth our island home’ and to reflect on the responsibility God has given to us to care for the creation God made. Music was provided by parishioners Leanne Madtes, Don Cruthis, and Jacob Bouser and guest cellist Keiran Campbell.

The vigil was a time to claim our solidarity with creation, to acknowledge the human impact on the earth, and to recognize our responsibility on God’s behalf to tend the garden. In the days, weeks, and months ahead, may we continue to live faithfully into that responsibility and be mindful of the continuing need for prayers and support in the Gulf region.

Peace Prayer Attributed to St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light
And where there is sadness, joy.

Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled
As to console;
To be understood, as to understand,
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying
That we are born to eternal life.
