The 60th Annual Book Sale is a fundraising activity of St. Francis Episcopal Church, which has continued to grow for the last 59 years. With more than 50,000 items at the sale, there are many different types of volunteer opportunities available. The annual book sale has adapted to the changing market by adding media items and small electronics. All proceeds from this nonprofit sale go directly to provide financial support to local charities such as Greensboro Urban Ministry, Malachi House II, Mental Health Association in Greensboro, Peak Adventure Ministries, Reading Connections, Rise Against Hunger, Sanctuary House, and Wheels4Hope. Last year, we donated more than $55,000 to organizations in our area.
There are many ways for you to help in the continued success of the St. Francis Annual Book Sale. Although our physical book sale takes place only once a year, we prepare year-round. Tons of books, DVDs, CDs, games, and other items are donated each year, and we rely on volunteer help to sort them into our sale categories. There are many other areas where year-round help is needed. Certain items need to be cleaned, tested, prepared, and researched. We can also use help in seeking select donations and promoting the sale throughout the year. We do not require a long-term commitment. You do not have to volunteer for a specific time or a specific number of hours, and there is no requirement to sign up in advance.
